Edmund Gordon Receives the Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize 2017.

The Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize awards £2,500 to the judges’ choice for the best first biography published each year. 2018 is the fifth year of sponsorship of the Prize by literary quarterly Slightly Foxed. For further information, go to the Slightly Foxed website.

The judges for the 2018 Prize are Anne Chisholm, Rachel Cooke and Andrew O’Hagan. Anne Chisholm a writer and critic, biographer of Nancy Cunard and Frances Partridge, and has recently re-edited the Letters of Dora Carrington. She is former Chair of the Royal Society of Literature. Rachel Cooke is a prize-winning journalist, writer and columnist at the Observer and television critic of the New Statesman. Her book Her Brilliant Career: Ten Extraordinary Women of the Fifties is published by Virago. Andrew O’Hagan writes fiction and non-fiction, and is author most recently of The Secret Life: Three True Stories. He is Editor-at-Large of the London Review of Books and Esquire.
